I see it in terms of different approaches to song writing, I prefer doom to black because it's rooted in classic hard rock. To put it in street terms: I need the groove, and that kicking bass line.

Tiamat themselves, at least in my opinion are not a doom metal band. They give some of their songs Doom metal sounds and elements, but if you listen to alot of their songs, they are not all as full of despair and gloom as true Doom metal. However, I love this band, very good music, and a great song.And Black metal is as it is...black metal, usual about the dark nature of man and is usual satanic by it's very nature. And it's sound is more active and up beat then Doom metal.

doom metal is usually sad and depressing..black metal is more like .. has action in it..you can headbang on it and stuff.. but doom is more relaxing !!
